How can you help?

Pilgrim Heights relies heavily on volunteer help. Everyone has a skill that we can employ to make Pilgrim Heights better. Choose an item on this list and contact Ann to volunteer your skills. Don’t see something suited to you? Then organize a group of people to come out to Pilgrim Heights to help! Organizing the volunteers from your congregation for a work weekend is needed!

General Building Work

Most of these tasks require some basic handy-man skills and a bit of “can do” attitude. Consider bringing a group with you. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Check out the following opportunities:

The following buildings require some roofing work:

• Old Maintenance Shed - west roof needs repair and re-shingling.
• Hickory Lodge - reroofing in various places

Around the buildings:

• Shagbark - need new gutters, drainage tile need to be placed around building, clean-up and paint exterior.
• Butternut - need new set of entrance stairs.
• Cedar Lodge - fix sidewalk on the east side of the building.

General Grounds Work

Do you know someone you can contact that would be able to help us out with a donation of time and/or materials? Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Check out the following opportunities:

• Gravel on the roads – particularly in the bottom part of the camp. The road surfaces will need to be prepared to receive the gravel.
• Trees along roads need to be trimmed

Buildings – Major Repair

• The southwest corner of Butternut cabin foundation is sinking. Butternut is a beautiful cabin along the lake and it would be a shame to loose. We need someone with experience to evaluate the situation, propose a solution and organize a volunteer team to restore Butternut back to its original beauty.
• Four Seasons is experiencing some problems with water flow around the building.  We need someone with experience to evaluate the problem and propose a solution, then organize the volunteers/help needed to stop water flow into the building during heavy rain periods.
• Cedar Lodge - the office, is in need of some renovations, from new windows, flooring, and insulation, to a remodel of a painfully tiny bathroom.

Other

• Expand the internet connection to more of the camp grounds.

Are you handy with small engine repairs? We need you!

Pilgrim Heights does not have the specialized tools to complete this work. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Check out the following opportunities:

• AGCO tractor – needs service and grease. The draw bar sway pins are missing.
• John Deere lawn tractor – The front wheel bearings are loose and my need to be replaced. Mower deck needs cleaning and servicing.
• We need new tires and tie-downs for the canoe trailer.
• General maintence checks for tractors and truck.
