Service Retreat

The Service-for-Service program works to meet the reciprocal needs of OSSI as well as our patrons by providing an exchange of volunteer time toward OSSI-determined work projects for a reduction in facilities fees.

 

Many of our participants are nonprofit groups or individuals with limited resources; many are interested in building group relationship among those coming on-site; and others simply want to incorporate the value of giving-back into their experience at Pilgrim Heights.  Through the Service-for-Service program, those who participate in functions/events at Pilgrim Heights offer their time and talents, benefit from a personal sense of accomplishment, strengthen relationships within their community, and realize a cost savings.

 

The program serves OSSI as well as those who participate. Increased utilization translates into financial sustainability for OSSI. Addressing the daunting delayed maintenance of buildings and grounds better aligns our facility needs with the needs of our patrons; and, ultimately provides insight for other changes as well.

 

At the time of recruitment, program planning or reservations, OSSI staff provides information on the Service-for-Service program when discussing either fees or on-site activity opportunities.  For those interested in the program, details about participant skills and appropriate work projects are gathered so that OSSI and the participants can plan for successful, safe activities. These service activities can either be performed prior to or during the patron’s function or event.

 

Invoices to the participants include recognition of the volunteer service through the Service-for-Service discount.
